Leason started surfing at 10 after his older cousin gave him his first board. In his 30s, Leason was introduced to Jesus after attending a church on the beach that sprung up out of a Christian Surfers (CS) Bible study. Having been an experienced traveler and photographer, he decided to go on a mission trip the church was taking to Haiti, where he encountered God and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He returned home knowing the Lord had called him to the mission field. Leason served regularly at Upper Room Church and Christian Surfers Pensacola, later serving as the chapter leader for CS Pensacola. Partnering alongside CS El Salvador, Leason helped organize and lead mission teams to El Salvador. On one of his trips, the Lord showed Leason the impact CS had on unreached beaches across the country and how much the surf community needed the gospel. The Lord directed Leason’s heart to his own backyard, the Gulf Coast. As a family on mission, Leason and his wife, Julia, lead their three children with an eagerness for others to come to know the love of the Father through surfing, service, community and discipleship.
